About Julieta Corpus

Julieta Corpus’ poetry has been included in Waiting To Be Heard: Voces Desde El Chicho & The Texas Poetry Calendar. She collaborated with visual artist Corinne McCormack Whittemore and poet Katie Hoerth on Borderland Mujeres, which will be published this Fall 2023 by Texas A&M Press. Her first poetry collection titled, Of Love and Departures/ De Amor Y Despedidas, 202, is available on Amazon. She was recently awarded a Creative Writing Residency in Tasajillo, Texas to translate a collection of short stories by Austin-based poet, Ire’ne Lara Silva.

Julieta Corpus writes because her poetry is a scream lodged in her throat that must be freed or it will suffocate her. She has been writing since the age of 11 but didn’t start publishing until she attended college. Her poems have appeared in various anthologies, and one poem even made it into the Texas Calendar.

Her greatest accomplishment is a 12-poem CD titled “Corazón Parlante” of her own creation with background music by a local musician named Mario Mora.
