The South Texas Mariachi Festival is back for a second year with an exciting weekend of workshops, competitions, clinicians, and special guests, including: Alberto “Beto” Jiménez Maeda, Jonathan D. Clark, Josué “Eddy” López, Antonio “Tony” Zúñiga, Nereida García, Vanessa Alonzo, and Mariachi Aztlán with Chamber Orchestra.

This year, we are paying tribute to the women pioneers and icons of La Canción Ranchera. These empowering women in mariachi include: Lucha Reyes, Amalia Mendoza, Lola Beltrán, Lucha Villa, and La Reina de la Música Ranchera (The Queen of Ranchera Music), Aída Cuevas.

This year, the South Texas Music and Cultural Arts Foundation is thrilled to induct Aida Cuevas—“The Queen of Ranchera Music”, Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning Mexican singer and actress whose career spans over five decades—to the South Texas Mariachi Hall of Fame.

A living legend, Aida Cuevas is considered the last great female proponent of the ranchera genre in Mexican history.
