“En Memoria” – Día de los Muertos Concert

Exciting announcement!! AIDA CUEVAS is coming to the RGV!!
The South Texas Music and Cultural Arts Foundation, the Downtown San Juan Cultural Arts District, and the Basilica of San Juan will present a very special commemorative concert, EN MEMORIA, in celebration of our deceased loved ones on November 2, El Dia de los Muertos, at 8 p.m.
This fabulous concert will feature great classical musicians for the opening of the concert, including the RGV Chamber Orchestra with Dr. Diana Seitz and Dr. Joel Pagan, and the Trio Latitude 39. The legendary two-time Grammy Award winner Aida Cuevas will be our grand finale! Aida Cuevas is the most popular Mexican singer today, with 40 albums selling 10 million copies worldwide! This event will be the final concert of her Aida’s US Tour, Amar y Cantar which she has performed in fabulous venues across the nation with members of Mariachi Aztlán.
About “En Memoria”
EN MEMORIA commemorates our loved ones on this special Mexican holiday and celebrates the synergy and interconnectedness between the different artistic genres of classical and folk music.
The first half of the concert features the Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, by G. P. Telemann, with Dr. Joel Pagan on viola accompanied by the RGV Chamber Orchestra.
The well-known and admired Vivaldi “Winter” Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 4 in F minor follows with various soloists from the orchestra, including Dr. Diana Seitz.
The second half of the concert features the UTRGV Mariachi Juvenil Aztlán, and the award-winning Mariachi Aztlán. La Reina del Mariachi of Mexico, Aida Cuevas, will be performing with Mariachi Aztlán as the finale of the concert!
